The spectacular coastline of the Mendocino-Sonoma county border is known locally as Mendonoma. This sunrise was taken from Mendocino County looking south toward Sea Ranch and incorporates parts of both counties. The aluminum reflects the light so it seems to glow as the sunrise does.

Spectacular Mendonoma Morning
The morning of January 6, 2014 offered a spectacular sunrise on the Mendocino Coast. It started out with even more intense colors than are shown in this photo. As the sun was coming up and the colors began fading the color spread over the entire visible ocean. Since it was impossible to capture what I was seeing with a single photo I took several overlapping shots which were then stitched together with software to display the entire panorama. The file for this photo is therefore quite large and can be printed with incredible detail up to 8 feet long.
Mendonoma is the name associated with the Southern Mendocino County and Northern Sonoma County coast. This photo was taken from Mendocino County, north of Gualala and has parts of both counties in the photo.
This photo was awarded first place in color photography in the prestigious 2014 Art in the Redwoods in Gualala. More important to me was it being voted by the attendees as the “Most Popular” piece of art in the show.
This photo is a panorama with a 1x3, height to width ratio. We have a 60” copy in our home. If space permits it can be printed up to 8 feet wide. All of my photos are reproduced as dye infused metal prints. These metal prints have unsurpassed luminescence and have outstanding archival qualities. They can be sized to meet individual needs. Many frame options are available to customize the photo to individual taste and budget considerations. I very much enjoy working with customers to help them create something that will have special meaning for years to come.
I am a nature and wildlife photographer. Since retiring 20 years ago I have been fortunate to enjoy having the ocean as my back yard and enjoy the ever-changing landscape and wildlife. Since I’m here full time I have the opportunity to witness and photograph the best the area has to offer. Sunrises, Sunsets, breaking waves, hummingbirds, osprey and pelicans are some of my specialties. I also have been fortunate to visit other beautiful areas and catch them in their finest hours.
