Barbara Banthien

Barbara Banthien's process is a slow detailed exploration of the subtle things in nature: the turn of a bird's head, light on feathers, patterns in a wing. Her exquisitely detailed work is in acrylic and gouache original paintings. Some of her works are available as limited edition giclee prints on 100% rag paper using the highest quality archival pigments. Barbara personally oversees the proofing and production of each print at the printer's studio and signs and numbers each one. Additionally, she includes a Certificate of Authenticity for every piece of her artwork.

  • This is a beautiful painting of a Monterey cypress tree with an Acorn Woodpecker perched on the side of the tree. The trunk of the tree is very intricately painted with a lot of detail. The background is a light brown color and the tree is in similar shades of brown. The woodpecker is small and is black, white and cream with red on its head. There are no leaves on the tree and it is a section of the tree and not the entire tree.

  • A wonderful, patriotic print of a gray wolf with an American flag in the background. The wolf is looking forward and its front upper body is shown. The light reflects nicely off of the wolf and flag. A couple of the embroidered stars on the flag have threads unravelling and parts of it look a bit ragged depicting that the flag has some age to it. The colors of the wolf are in shades of grey and white and the flag behind is red, white and blue.
