Robert Zlomke's Gateleg Table in ash and walnut, measures 45 inches by 56 inches by 29 inches high.
The table seats six yet still folds up when desired. In addition, the fixed center section of the table crosses the table at an angle, rather than just going straight across. Besides creating an attractive visual dynamic, this puts the legs near the ends of the ellipse - for maximum stability and to keep them out of the way of human legs. In the photo, you can see the figure in the tabletop crossing at an angle, following the line of the fixed center section of the top and providing a subtle foil to the irregular edge of the walnut accent board.
The walnut accent board in the top is set off from the rest of the top by a joint line that faithfully follows the figure in the adjoining ash board. You can see that more clearly in this photo of the table with that leaf down.
