When we moved to Santa Cruz County, we lived in a little house a short distance from the ocean. On many mornings, I would walk along the beach with my old Labrador, Billy. We’d find a good spot and watch the birds and the surf. I spent hours looking at the waves crashing and spraying, hoping for some just-right moment of movement, light, and color that I could later try to paint.
Often, Brown Pelicans would glide in a long, graceful array--skimming just above those breaking waves. Formation relates to a wonderful set of waves that came through one morning along with an amazing fly-by of those beautiful birds.
