Gordon Stennett, Quail Hen and Babies, the hen is of spalted maple burl, the babies are walnut and the family is set on a driftwood base that is reminiscent of a nest. Approximately 12 inches high by 16 inches wide by 7 inches deep.

Gordon started carving as a hobby in 1975.  His father had long admired carvings from another artist who lived in the area.  He was always interested in whatever his father did, so Gordon started working on birds too.  Their hobby snowballed into a profession and Gordon's shorebirds and waterfowl sculptures are displayed over the world, and his work has been on display at the Smithsonian.  Each piece is an original; no two pieces will ever look alike.
