Erin Dertner, oil painting on canvas, 16" x 20"

About Lime Green and Aquamarine, Erin says:

"One of my happiest of happy places has been the Pacific Star Winery which is 11 miles north of Fort Bragg. It has to be the most majestic setting for any winery on the planet and I have painted there more times than I could possibly count. The view to the south is the most captivating and on this occasion, I zeroed in on the closest bluffs and rocks and worked with my brush and knife to convey the fabulous colors and textures that are always present at any time of year. I especially love the freshness of this piece and maybe because I am so familiar with these rocks and bluffs, it has become easier to capture them. Or, maybe I was just especially happy that day and it came out in the finished painting. Sigh."

Long-time Mendocino plein air artist proficient in oils with a palette knife, oils with brushes, watercolors, and acrylics.

Painting, studying and teaching the subject of light is Erin’s driving force. The cool shadows of the early morning and those that fall long and warm in the evening enliven her creative soul as nothing else. Subject matter is secondary to the sunlight itself, though her locations speak volumes about God’s wondrous world of color, drama and mystery.
